- Thank you for your interest in TeleReplica. TeleReplica is a shareware
- program. This means you are encouraged to try it and make copies to pass
- on to your friends and acquaintances. If you decide the use the program
- on a continuing basis, you are asked to register it.
-
- The first version (1.2) has proved extremely useful to the author and
- several others. However, particularly the installation process requires
- some technical expertise and familiarity with modems. If there proves to
- be enough interest in the package (in other words, if I receive enough
- registrations!) then I am likely to write a more detailed manual and a
- complete installation program. However, it would be about a year before
- I would have enough spare time to complete this task, and I could only
- justify the effort if a large number of people not directly associated
- with me were using TeleReplica. I am therefore releasing this first
- version to "test the waters".
-
- TeleReplica release 1.2 is distributed electronically in a single
- compressed archive called TR1-2.??? (the file type will depend on the
- favourite archiver of the moderator/BBS sysop). This archive will contain
- the following files:
- license.doc license agreement for TeleReplica
- readme.doc this file
- register.doc registration form
- tr.exe TeleReplica program to run on replica computer
- tr.hlp on-line help for tr.exe
- tr.tr sample configuration file for tr.exe
- tr.doc user documentation in plain text format
- tr.lj2 user documentation in HP LaserJet II format
- tr.ws user documentation in WordStar 5.0 format
- trcheck.exe time checking utility
- trdial.exe telephone dialing program for host computer
- trget.exe file upload program for host computer
- trhost.exe TeleReplica program to run on host computer
- trhostin.exe installation program for trhost.exe
- trkey.exe key-pressed checking utility
- trput.exe file download program for host computer
- trtalk.exe host/replica conversation utility
-
- If the archive is called TR1-2.EXE then it will be a self-extracting
- executable archive; copy it to wherever you want the TeleReplica files to
- be installed, and enter the command:
- TR1-2
- which will unpack all the files.
-
- Otherwise, you will need to use the appropriate unarchiving program to
- recover these files.
-
- Once you have done this, you can print the documentation on an HP LaserJet
- series II printer by entering the command:
- print tr.lj2
-
- The documentation (such as there is) is provided in WordStar 5 format so
- that anyone with access to WordStar can format it for any printer. It is
- also provided in print ready form for any laser printer that can accept
- HP LaserJet II output (preferably with TMS Roman 10 and Helvetica 14B fonts
- available). Failing both of these it is also provided as a plain text file,
- but this will not be nicely set out with appropriate fonts...
